Handcrafted from solid cherry wood with solid maple edging at the three corners and a stunning inlaid accent strip of live edge birdseye maple, this box will comfortably keep more than twenty long stemmed fireplace matches close at hand. The included phosphorus-coated strike stick can be hung from a nearby nail or can nest inside the box if you prefer.

Far more attractive than the typical long, rectangular cardboard box used to hold fireplace matches, this triangular wooden box stands approximately ten inches tall, by four inches wide by three inches deep. Fireplace matches ten inches in length will fit perfectly in the box where a glued-in box bottom keeps the matches protruding slightly over top of the box so that a single match can easily be plucked.

The triangularly shaped box and maple accents were carefully cut and fitted using hand-held tools and small shop machines. Similar boxes in a variety of wood selections will be available in my store, but these are photos of the exact box you will receive, with all the charming characteristics of the particular piece of cherry and live edge birdseye maple used to make this box.

Birdseye maple wood is a type of hard maple known for its distinctive, swirling "eyes" or knots that resemble tiny bird's eyes scattered across the wood. This unique figure is a rare mutation of sugar maple and is highly sought after for its decorative appearance.

The box is finished with Osmo, an environmentally friendly oil/hard wax finish developed in Germany.

Your order comes with a phosphorus coated strike stick on which to light the matches. Matches not included.
